Mazurka time

Back when I played a lot of button accordion, there was a lovely little mazurka I used to like to play. I don’t recall the name of it. It may be that wherever I found it, it was just called Mazurka. If you’re unfamiliar with Mazurkas, they are folk dances. I believe the form originated in Poland, but like some other dances like the polka, they spread far and wide. Mazurkas are normally in triple meter.

I recorded this video 3 or 4 years ago, but I don’t think I did anything with it. When I watched it today, I was reminded what a lovely tune it is and how much I enjoyed playing it. These days I’ve been concentrating on clawhammer banjo and I haven’t been playing very much button accordion at all. One of these days, I’ll have to start reintegrating squeezebox into my music practice.

Have your say...
