I confess I’m a sucker for the CBC TV show Dragons’ Den. From the first time I saw it, I thought, well this won’t be very good, or I don’t think I’ll like this, yet I can’t turn it off. I think at the heart of its success is that these guys actually put their dough on the line and buy into all kinds of wacky business ideas. One of the Dragons, Brett Wilson, is leaving. Apparently there were some contract details they couldn’t work out.
Maybe this is a good time for CBC to pack in the show – not because one guy is leaving – but because, as much as I enjoy the show, I think the format is getting tired. How many business ideas and inventions can you look at and keep interested? It seems that on television, many times producers just don’t know when to quit. They have to try to milk every last bit of cashola out of a show, even when everybody knows it’s time to shut it down.
Are there other Dragons’ Den fans out there?
I have actually never watched Dragon’s Den, but I have quite a few friends who watch it religiously.
