Why traditional music?…installment #2064

Tommy Jarrell performing Cumberland Gap. I love this video, shot by Alan Lomax and crew in 1983.  Who says I don’t like “80s” music.

Mr. Jarrell lived in a town called Toast NC in Surrey County. The area is known as Round Peak and the style of Old Time music he and others who lived near that mountain played is known as Round Peak. He was a great banjo player and a great fiddle player as well. I love the way he delivered Cumberland Gap.

Have your say...
