Iconic must be the most overused word we see these days. Celebrities, for instance are regularly described as iconic, at least those who aren’t yet legendary. Both words are used when an adjective is needed, but there really isn’t all that much to say. They’ve become meaningless, filler marketing words. Let’s give them a rest for a few years, ok? While we’re at it, let’s agree to rid our language of the word impactful. That one is like fingernails on a blackboard to me. I’m sure there’s more. ‘outraged’ is pretty high on my list. There are some words that you see often in the media that seriously annoy me. Right at the very top of the list is ‘gunned down’. Poor Lance was gunned down in the prime of life. You have to be a good guy to be gunned down. Bad guys are shot they arent gunned down. You will never see ‘the hostage taker was gunned down by police’. So there is a difference between ‘Fred was gunned down outside an after hours club last night’ And ‘Bill was shot outside an after hours club last night’ Poor Fred was just walking on by when he was gunned down while Bill was probably selling dope on the corner when he was shot in a gang related dispute. While you can be gunned down no one is ever knifed down or baseball batted down.
‘Organic’ is bothersome to me of late.
I can see that one.
My pet peeve is the use of “impacted” instead of affected, as in “the employees will be impacted by this change”. Teeth are impacted; people are affected.

Almost any use of the word impact is painful…because the use of the word has been so butcher since the 90s. Everything is iconic…it’s just that most people don’t know why..and so that is sad to me. And it’s also an ethnocentric word sometimes.
“authenticity” is so ridiculous.
