Nobody batted an eye when Woody Guthrie created new lyrics for Wabash Cannonball and came up with the fantastic Grand Coulee Dam and took the instrumental Red Wing and came up with Union Maid. In the fullness of time, I have to say I’m glad the world has the following:
In the misty crystal glitter of the wild and windward spray
Men have fought the pounding waters and met a watery grave.
She tore their boats to splinters but she gave men dreams to dream
of the day the Coulee Dam would cross that wild and wasted stream……even if it does sound like Wabash Cannonball.

Have your say...
