I just posted a brief review of Zydeco Party King by Clifton Chenier over at SqueezemyLemon. It’s a new release of some great mid-60s material by the King of Zydeco.

Aren’t Cajun’s part Indian…or native American to use the pc vernacular?
I was a great fan of Redbone as a kid. I had two LP’s of the time. Witch Queen Of New Orleans (which was also their most succesful single in the UK) and Potlatch which included ‘Maggie’ – their second most successful single in the UK.
The line up as I recall was Lol Vegas, Pat Vegas, Pete ‘Last Walking Bear’ Depoe and, if there was a fourth, someone who I’ve forgotten.
The post just reminded me of a musical interlude of my youth I most enjoyed. Probably not the intention but ta anyroad!
Dinners,
Cajun is the term used to describe those people living mostly in Southwest Louisiana who are descendents of the Acadians, the French-speaking settlers exiled from Acadia, or what is now Nova Scotia and New Brunswick in Canada.
