How come….

Gyms always seem to blast dance music. So many people come equipped to plug their favourite music directly into their skulls, it seems like its mostly an irritant. Some of us would prefer no music at all. Some folks are even ok going through their lives, including their workouts without dance music. I’m one of those. Now it might be different if the dance music we were talking about featured polkas, schottisches, huapangos, waltzes, two-steps, paso-dobles, fandangos and on and on. Last night I went swimming only to find that annoying dance music was being pumped into the pool area. I confess I looked around to see if there was a discreet way of disabling it.

I would be happy with no music at all.

My gym only occasionally plays awful thumping dance music – usually in the mornings they put on a run of the mill radio station that is only somewhat irritating. But I started bringing my iPod shuffle with me awhile back in an attempt to drown out the sound of very rude and extremely loud YAKKING women who talk non-stop while they are supposedly working out. Gaaah!

I love dance music at the workout gym. but it’s not on the main speakers. it’s on my iPod. I listen to amazing dance music and mash ups while I work out…so fun and so FAST!!! Speed is freedom!!!!

Loud pop music over the speakers and either Fox or CNN on the gigantic, suspended TV’s all over the gym. Yuck. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a TV in the locker room in the near future.

That’s even worse than the crap they play (very loudly) at my local Safeway. At least there you can grab your cauliflower and get out.

I don’t know why gyms feel the need to play annoying music!

I think you should take in a few samples for them to play. Start with the paso-dobles, and see how it goes from there.

OMG, do NOT get me started on the sh*tty “music” gyms play! It’s always THE WORST! I have an MP3 player, so I can play what I want while I work out, but I totally hear you. I haven’t always had an MP3 player, so I have had to put up with some seriously bad music in my gym career.
