Celebrating “Simcoe Day”, AKA “Civic Holiday” in these parts, Tuffy P and I decided to go see the new Christopher Noland film, Inception. First, let me say that this is a 2.5 hour film, so don’t do as I did….and gulp down a “regular” sized beverage at the start of the film, then sit in the middle of the cinema (IMAX) making getting up to sneak out to the washroom next to impossible. How much is in a regular sized beverage anyway? A gallon perhaps?
Anyway, Inception is fantastic. It’s a crazy trip through a dream world, and at the same time, a trip through film world too, as it reminded us of any number of movies at different points along the way. For the first five minutes I was confused and skeptical, then it had me and I was along for the whole roller-coaster ride. Just strap on your seat belt, be prepared to suspend your disbelief and go with it.

I’ve heard very mixed reviews about this film (titled Origen in Spanish). Will probably wait for it to come out on DVD so I can take a bathroom break whenever I want.
I absolutely loved Inception (and can totally sympathize with cinema bladder meltdown).
A friend of mine pointed out the funniest thing, though. There are uncanny similarities between Nolan’s film and the plot of this Disney comic starring Scrooge McDuck. http://disneycomics.free.fr/Ducks/Rosa/show.php?num=1&loc=D2002-033&s=date It’s a fun read.

I saw this today too! Great minds think alike, no? I agree with you, it was fantastic. Both my friend and I worried for the first 15-20 minutes…it was slow and confusing but once Ellen Page’s character showed up, things picked up and it started to make sense. And it was wonderful to see her hold her own when up against Di Caprio and the others. I loved all the different layers. Absolutely delightful. And visually stunning. I’m sure there will talk of Oscars in the near future.
And I pulled the same mistake you did. Regular soda and by the end of the first hour….I was running out the door and running back because I didn’t want to miss much.
