Enjoyed a great afternoon with my friend Jamie and the dogs foraging for mushrooms.

IMG_1715We found mostly chanterelles but also a few hedgehog mushrooms and a couple lobsters.  I had expected we would find some boletes and more lobsters, but the quantity of chanterelles (we found plenty) made up for that.


    • Last night I fried up a bunch of chanterelles with a chopped up ham steak, and when they were almost done, I added some bbq’d zucchini, eggplant and corn (left over from the night before), some salt, pepper and a sprinkle of hot chiles. Very nice.

    • I’ve been foraging for a few years now. The trick is to learn the good ones one at a time – it helps a lot if you have someone experienced to show you the ropes. My brother helped me a lot!
