I voted this morning and I hope you do too.

What an ugly election campaign, with a mostly dismal cast of characters. I always hope important jobs like elected office will attract our best and brightest, but this time around, it’s hard to make that case. If the polls are to believed, there will be no clear winners, and we’re likely to see things break along regional lines even more than usual. Just thinking about it makes my head hurt.

Watching social media, it seems there are a lot of angry people all around. Personal attacks abound. How many times have I heard: Only stupid people vote for… fill in the blank. Arrggh.

Still, I feel really fortunate to be living in one of the best countries in the world and as imperfect as our democracy may be, it’s still positive. It’s still important to vote.

To all you muckrakers, haters, brown-nosing party hacks, and political bullies: shame on all of you.
