Northeast of Toronto, in the rural area between Pickering and Uxbridge, a pack of wild hogs is roaming the woods. Now some of you will be thinking free BBQ in Pickering but be careful out there. You don’t want to mess with a hungry hog and that’s for sure. A pack of 14 has been spotted and there might be many more.
These are Eurasian hogs, which are considered invasive species in Ontario. These pigs mature at 6 months and can have 2 litters per year, with 4-10 piglets in each litter, according to the article. The Ministry is apparently attempting to trap the hogs. It isn’t clear how well this effort is going.
