Yesterday (wtf?)

I’ve lived in the greater Toronto area for all of my 49 years, and yesterday marked the first time I experienced an earthquake. It wasn’t a big earthquake, but an earthquake it was. I was sitting at a desk and the whole floor rumbled twice. It was a strange feelings. Some people felt nothing, but in some areas, such as in Ottawa, buildings were evacuated.

Then a nasty storm hit Midland. On the radio this morning, I heard that the Tornado authorities had yet to declare it an official tornado. Ask the folks in the trailer park that got wiped out if it mattered to them if it was official or not. In my view the very fact that it hit a trailer park tells me it was a tornado for sure. After all, any old fool knows that trailer parks actually cause tornados.

Meanwhile the G8 leaders are on their way to beautiful Huntsville. I wonder if the black flies are still really active up there, or will they be mostly facing mosquitos? Maybe they won’t even go outside. They can look at pictures of Fake Lake on TV instead.

I experienced an earthquake in Toronto – must have been about 25 years ago. I was living on the 26th floor of an apartment building on Isabella Street and all of a sudden it was like I was having an acid flashback. A bizarre vibrating feeling rather than shaking or quaking. By the time I started getting nervous about what was happening it suddenly stopped.

Mosquitos also bad in Seville. I keep waking up with bites all over my hands and feet.

Glad you’re okay! Living in the south, we experience a lot of hurricanes, and I’ve even lived through an earthquake. But the worst of all is the tornado. I hate hate hate them. And they always follow hurricanes.

There was a more dramatic earthquake here in the early 80’s. (OK, perhaps a few seconds longer so that you knew it was a real earthquake)

I’ve been hearing such a variety of experiences from people all over Ontario, some who felt the shaking, others who were completely immune.

Must have caused a bit of excitement for the G20 police!

Was this at your home? I was at home and didn’t feel a thing. 😦
The last quake I felt was in the late 90’s when I was living in the Beach and it just felt like a bump.
I don’t know if it says I was so preoccupied that I missed a quake or if being in a new house cushions one from these things.

This was my 3rd earthquake and I think the strongest. Gave the house a decent shake, you could actually see the walls moving a bit. Clearly we need to ask the g20 guys for aid. There was apparently a Wiki on this event within 10 minutes, and I see there is a guy selling “I survived the earthquake” T shirts The mosquitoes are bad this year and we could toss in a request for aid for mosquito relief. Maybe Willie could do an earthquake aid concert for us!
