Tuffy P brought this one home from the video store. It’s an HBO production starring Jeff Bridges and a dog. Has to be good, right? Well, let’s say it was OK as far as it went. It was kind of like a pilot for a series, opening up possibilities for more, but the more is left to our imagination.
It’s about a writer who can’t write and who is generally a mess. He agrees to take a problem dog, a border collie. The dog is like Bridges, a mess. They work it out. The end. It felt like we got A Dog Month rather than A Dog Year. What we did get was charming, though.

The Offspring and I have a history of wandering through the video store, deciding whether or not the dog dies whenever we see a video with a dog on the cover. A tad morbid, perhaps, but it really is an overused plot point.
