Movin’ On

Mr. Fireman please won’t you listen to me, I’ve got a pretty mama down in Tennessee, keep movin’ me on…

Train song #49 features the most fantastic Hank Snow and the Rainbow Ranch Boys, performing I’m Moving On.

Is this the best train song ever written? Just askin’.

Many many years ago, I heard a tune Hank Snow recorded called Zeb Turneys Gal that I really loved. He also did an astonishingly good version of the Newfoundland tune Squid Jiggin’ Grounds…

Hank Snow simply owned the whole train song thing. His voice has a quality to it that I could listen to all day. Besides the country stuff, he has recorded some sort of surprising songs such as Me and Bobby McGee which I much prefer to the Janis Joplin version.

We must have been separated at birth! All of the music you post here is also MY music. Love it.

I really appreciate your comment, Azahar. As you know, I post quite a few tunes in this space, mostly to feature music I love that deserves to be celebrated. Sometimes this material just goes by without a comment, and I usually assume that it’s just me and a small circle of friends who enjoy it. Cheers!
