In the Garden

This garden was created by Tuffy P. It’s right at the front entrance to our house. The bench was a gift from some great friends several years ago. It used to have a natural wood finish but after several years on our front porch back at the old house, it needed revitalizing. Tuffy has just given it a new paint job. Her idea was to flank the bench with a garden on each side, a small one to the rear, and a larger one toward the street.

Of course every good garden looks better with a Newfoundland dog loafing around, enjoying a little nap.

Loafing around the garden is one of Ellie Mae’s best skills. Here she enjoys gnawing on an old stick.

This is the lean-to garden in the back yard. It’s located at the very back of the lawn before it transitions into a little wee wooded area. I really enjoy this garden with it’s selection of shade and woodland plants, a partial border made from found materials, and of course the goofy lean-to behind it. Everybody should have a ramshackle lean-to in their back yard, don’t you think?

Your yard is glorious! I love the bench, its whimsical colour just makes me smile. And yes, every yard should have a lean-to. I don’t have one, sadly, but I do have a set of old wooden harrows leaning against the side of the garage that I think looks pretty cool.

Have your say...
