This nest must have been up in the locust tree. I found it in the garden this morning. I hope the birds using it were done with it for the season.

Amazing construction and hard work!! It hasn’t been used yet!! Wonder if something scared them away? After it’s used it is full of bird droppings from the little ones that take about 17-19 days to mature before they learn to fly away from their parents “lessons” and incessant encouragement with their chirps from another nearby tree: “Mummy and daddy are over here” tune or
“Time to find your own breakfast”! With the droppings that spread/ harden–the size of the nest naturally grows larger to hold the growing birdies–amazing nature!! We had several nests on our previous balcony hanging fushias–house finches loved these (as do we!
