…..doesn’t mean I really really really want you to send me a direct message or an email selling me your coaching services. OK? Thanks.
Just because it’s Christmas Eve….
…doesn’t mean it’s not a good time for a little Boogie-Woogie. Let’s take it down to the Chicken Shack with Champion Jack Dupree.
Sorry I couldn’t find the Christmas music…
Merry Christmas Everyone
Hinterland Who’s Who: brown bear vs wolf
Where’s your boots and where’s your gun?
She never spoke Spanish to me, by Butch Hancock. Mr. Hancock was part of a band with Joe Ely who introduces this clip – called the Flatlanders.
I first heard this tune as performed by Doug Sahm and The Texas Tornadoes
That’s Flaco Jimenez squeezing out those beautiful Tex-Mex fills.
Double-woven Navaho
I was driving across Canada, I don’t remember what year it was. It was one of those trips where you slow down to 130 km/hr to change a tire, and it didn’t seem to matter what radio station I tuned to, I heard Ian Tyson singing about Katie and that old Navaho Rug. I must have listened to that tune 30 times as I tore up the the foothills then the prairies. To this day I think I know all the words and that tune is still a favourite.
I believe the song is co-written by Mr. Tyson and another fave, Tom Russell.
Love that sweet mandolin. Finally, let’s hear Jerry Jeff Walker…
From the impulse shopping department….
There I was in the produce section of the grocery store when I passed a bunch of interesting boxes – Mushroom Mini Farms. They even had two different brands. These are oyster mushrooms, ready to grow. I bought a box on impulse, being careful not to look at the price (I didn’t want to know). So I’ve followed the instructions and I’ll report back when I see mushrooms.
OK, just a couple more puppy pictures….
Ol’ Blue
Since we have a new dog in the house, I’d like to feature my favourite song about a dog – Ol’ Blue.
Ian & Sylvia
The Dillards
The Byrds? Yep, The Byrds…
And finally, the fantastic Dave Van Ronk
