I have a hankering for a little fiddle music…

So, let’s hear a Ward Allen tune called The Old Box Stove, played by two fellows named Tom and Charlie.

Ward Allen, Composer of the Canadian classic Maple Sugar

That sends shivers down my spine. Here’s the same boys playing Mr. Allen’s fantastic Maple Sugar. I’ve posted this before, on my old blog, but this song makes me so happy I need to post it again. It’s great to hear players keeping this music alive!

Here’s April Verch on Canadian fiddle styles. I’ve seen Ms. Verch play live and she’s a fine fiddler and a great step dancer too! Check out this piece!

Finally, here’s the late Jerry Holland. Mr. Holland was born in Boston to Canadian parents. He made his television debut as a child on Don Messer’s Jubilee. What a great player!

It’s a beauty isn’t it? And Ward Allen was a fabulous player and composer. I vote to make Maple Sugar the new Canadian national anthem.

Those are really beautiful tunes. Absolutely delightful.

Oh one thing I highly recommend for sore knees. Flax seed oil. It’s got to be the oil because it’s easier to assimilate and it reduces inflamation. Take a shot…in a shot glass in the morning and one with lunch. Yeah, seriously, like an ounce shot glass. It will help with your digestion as well and with appetite. The flax seed oil has anti-inflamatory qualities and helps with joints and function. It will help with all kinds of things…(especially mental acuity).

Have you considered acupunture? A holistic nutritionalist?

Not that you asked…erp…but…I recommend for three weeks cutting out all wheat, corn, potatoes and empty carbohydrates. If you need some grain try organic brown rice with organic green peas. Have salad every night for supper…with an avacado (I know texture…but the vitiamin E is very healing) and add a hard boiled egg to the salad or a bit of tuna for protein. Make it a large salad…you should feel full after eating it and not hungry at bed time.

Your sleep will be very healing after this kind of a supper for a week. Have brown rice and peas with tamari, and seaweed. Get organic pacific nori and cut it into little squares and pack in your lunch (In a little lunch bag or tupperware?). Heat up brown rice and some green peas at lunch time. Then sprinkle with organic tamari…and stir in your squares of nori. This will really help your energy and pain levels.

Fresh berries and yogurt for breakfast…and you won’t know what hit you in two weeks. In a month your knee should feel a lot of relief.

Um …have you considered yoga…I feel a book or brick being thrown at me right now…okay okay I’m ducking for cover!!!!

    🙂

      Candy,
Thank you for your kind suggestions. Having a sore knee is starting to look quite attractive. As you know from this blog, though, I need all the help I can get with mental acuity. Har!
