Toronto the Bad?

Map of Toronto

Image via Wikipedia

Leger Marketing has released a new study that says Toronto is the city Canadians like the least. Albertans especially don’t like us, apparently. It’s OK though. I still like Albertans. I do. Victoria is the favourite, according to the survey. Really? Well, they do have Mr. Floatie. Are we that bad here in Toronto? Come on, you can tell me. I’ve got a thick skin.

What are the 10 worst things about Toronto?
10 best?
OK, maybe 3 best?

Oh, and can you please put a “recent comments” widget in the sidebat, and the option to get an email notice for further comments on a blog post?

    Ta!

I saw that survey the other day and thought… people were PAID to do this? What, they interviewed about 2,000 people? Hardly enough for any sort of meaningful cross-section of the population. Buncha crap if you ask me.

I think Toronto is FAB. Lived there for ten years and totally loved it. It’s the only place in Canada I would live, if I ever wanted to live in Canada again, which I don’t. Much prefer Spain.

ok I used to live in the Big Smoke but fled happily to the countryside. Here is what I dont like about Toronto
    1.the polluted air
    2. the traffic
    3. the smog
    4. the way folks think that in some way the Leafs are even a little bit important
    5. rush hour
    6. that brown cloud that hangs over the city visible from 25 miles away
7.the way the city wants to put nuke generators out in the countryside instead of on King St. If Toronto wants the power let them live with the nukes
8.The way the city wants to truck their garbage to anyplace on the planet except Toronto
    9. did I mention the traffic and the crappy air?
10.public transit on a steamy July afternoon
yikes I almost forgot the noise. ya I hate the noise. Do I have to stop at 10?

Top 10 reasons others have a hate-on 4 “Terranna” aka Toronto

    1. It’s the most “money” area maybe in the whole “maple leafed flagged” area.
    2. It’s the most “American” city compared to all the others “around it”.
    3. It’s the place where all “questioned” hockey goals are reviewed.
    4. It maybe the Canadian Tire Money capital of the world.
    5. It’s a very ultra urban and industrial combo area compared to it’s immediate neighbors.
    6. It’s very diverse and “overall friendly” vibe isn’t good for those who think “small n’ the same”.
    7. The theater scene is very “vibrant”.
    8. It’s been politically divided between suburban vs. urban “ideals”.
    9. Way to many doughnut shops.
    10.All that SCTV style comedy…{think Bob n’ Doug Mckenzie styleinz’}

Hey I’m a Torontonian and I feel good about the fact that we don’t have a hate on for any city. Best to “live and let live” which seems a pretty good mantra to live by in such a culturally diverse city as T.O.

My only beef is that folks like to say we pronounce it “Taranna” which is WRONG! If you want to sound like you were born and bred here its “Toronno”! all “ohs”. And no “ahs”…… now you’ll sound like the real McCoy!

Yep, for sure it’s Toronno. I think our cultural diversity is one of the fantastic things about our city. We have some great neighbourhoods, and overall I think it’s a pretty friendly place too.

I’m an Albertan and I don’t hate you. However, I’m a Maritimer by birth so maybe that’s why. I think its just one of those things people think that they’re supposed to do so they do it. Kind of like how all Edmontonians are supposed to hate all things Calgary. Fine when it comes to sports but I quite like the city itself. You have the Leafs and the Jays (no comment on the Argos) so there’s two things to like. πŸ™‚
