Ready….

Movember starts tomorrow and I’m ready. As my friends and family will tell you, I’ve never had a moustashe that hasn’t been suitably attached to a beard, but I can do this thing. Movember is a great cause and supporting my silly moustache supports some super men’s health initiatives. Already, friends and family have been donating – I’m up to $555 already. To all of you who have gone to my Movember page and made a donation, thank you so much. I’ve given myself a goal of $1000 raised by the end of the month.

Now for the fun part – to grow a quality mo. If all goes well, I might even keep it. I feel a fashion statement coming on! I’ll post updates every week or so….

The Homes of Donegal

I’m really looking forward to the Paul Brady performance at Hugh’s Room tomorrow night. Here he is with Hiroshi Yamaguchi performing a very unusual and striking version of The Homes of Donegal…

And here is Mr. Brady playing his Arthur McBride. Perfect.

OK, just one more…The Lakes of Pontchartrain

Underground

IMG_0119I’ve made two series of paintings called Underground over the years as well as some one-offs. Along with a few other themes, such as The Source and Forest of No Return, or Lost Forest, I seem to come back to them over and over again. I suppose over time we simply find our themes. This is another picture I made on the ipad using the Procreate app. I’ve been making these digital images specifically for publication on 27th Street, but at the same time, I’m amassing a new image-bank of ideas, some of which may just find their way into a new series of large paintings.

Woodstove and Cardinal

IMG_0117The female cardinal is temporarily hanging by the woodstove while Tuffy P finishes the male. I snapped this photo with a flash and light was a bit low, so resolution isn’t great, but I kind of like how it looks anyway so I thought I’d share it.

I feel a new canjo coming on….

Today we visited Nice Old Stuff in Jarvis ON and came home with a car-full of stuff we couldn’t live without. Among the things we found was a fantastic maple syrup can – English on one side, French on the other. It is in excellent shape and is going to be perfect for a maple syrup can banjo. It will be a sweet instrument if you know what I mean. That’s on my to-do list right after I get around to finishing the mountain banjo that’s been on the go in the workshop for too long. Time to refocus…

DSC04461DSC04462Another fun item we found there was what I can only call a dream on a stick. I installed it in the garden as soon as we got home. (look just under the canoe in the picture)
